The Dresden Files

Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files is being made into a comic book brought to you by the Dabel Brothers and Del Rey Publishing. I thought this was a good idea. So I drew a quickie of Harry Dresden from what I knew of him in the SciFi show.

On another note. I've been busy as hell. Too much on my plate at the moment. Coloring a 48 pager with TONS of detail, doing a website for my bro Chad Hurd http://www.chadhurd.com , and then a few projects I'm penciling that I'm not at liberty to talk about.

Now this was just a quickie to break from the monotonous days of a an illustrator / comic producer.

The Keys of Mahdicia are on it's way!

Hey guys, been slacking lately with my posts.. so I figured I'd toss up a couple of things after the Anita Blake colors.

To the left is how I do my penciling. It's VERY loose. But that's the way they come out when I ink my own stuff. As you can tell by some of the previous pencils I've posted that I don't do this all the time.

This is the pencils of page one from a comic my wife and I are doing. It's part of a giant trilogy. The first series is called The Keys of Mahdicia. (Mah - Dee - She - Ah)

To the right you can see the inks for this page. Notice how a lot of the art or things about it (like a whole panel.) Just decided to change in the inking process. I use ZIG Millennium Pigment pens, and a Pentel Ink Wash brush.

I will be coloring this when the first issue is inked. So expect to see a repost of the progress when I end up coloring this beast!.

Just thought I'd share a little bit of lineart!

Two characters from a fan based X-Men RPG campaign based here around Detroit with a few of my friends. They want their characters drawn all the time. So every once in a while they'll hit me up with a commission or two.

First up is...
Bobby Drake Jr. - the son of Iceman and some random human.
He wanted to have him in mid transform, with a couple of ice patches visible under his clothes and trench coat.

Then after that we have Lorelei Wagner, the daughter of Nightcrawler and Amanda Sefton. Some of you may have seen me draw this character before but, not like this. The reason for her new look is because two characters she was close to were killed in battle. She now has possesion of their two favored material objects. Cyrus Murphey's Headphones, and Jeremy Wagner's skateboard.

The pencils on this piece were done by me, and then the inks were done by my wife Lisa, whom also helped ink a couple pages of Hero@Large when I was doing that title.

Gah... Sketching..

Thought I'd show off a couple things that may or may not end up in the sketchbook.

First up is the cover to an unnamed comic written by my wife, Lisa Treece and illustrated by me.

It's just a simple boy in some twined roots/branches of a tree. It will all make sense when we finish the book.

I'm thinking I want to add a couple more elements to the piece, just not right now though. I want to be really sure that I want what I'm thinking in the picture.

After that I'll share with you one of the supporting stars of the comic Hero@Large. It is Barry Finkelstein... as you may remember he is the one responsible for killing Alpha Major's superhero career to have him spin into a mess of a human, trying to win back all that was familiar to him. If you have NO idea what I am talking about... well then, try to find a copy of
Hero@Large #1.

The sketchbook will have individual pages of every cast member of the 2 issue series.
