Ghost Rider

Here is a commission on 11x17 that I inked with a brush only. I love the brush I got and what kind of lines I can get out it. So free and so energetic. I just have to pair it up with the right ink. Any suggestions on that?

The finished colors where done in Manga Studio (tones) and finished in Photoshop.

31 Days of Halloween - Creature from the Black Lagoon

Not much other than doing a illo of the Creature from the Black Lagoon. I missed out on two days of sketches, but I'll clear that up with some double posts. I went with ink wash on this one and thought that it turned out pretty darn good, eh?

This piece was VERY fun to do. I've never been so into these water colors. It was a very lengthy process. The inks are some of my favorite. That style of inking while it takes quite a bit to complete, it's very relaxing. Tedious, but relaxing. I also think the end result just shows how much work goes into it!

I have here three different versions of this piece. You'll see the water color piece here at the left. Then below you'll find the black and white line art, as well as a digitally colored piece. I'll have to say personally my traditional colors blow my digital stuff out of the water. Looks like I'll have to learn from my traditional work and incorporate that back into the digital work. I took what I learned digitally and applied that to my traditional works... but it looks like I need to revisit my digital work theories.

If anyone is wondering if I'm taking commissions for pieces like this. I am indeed. It'll be a bit before I can get to yours as I have some other work in between. I will keep you in the loop and let you know when the commissions are started by showing step by steps via Twitter, Facebook, and email.

Star Wars Sketch 06 - Bib Fortuna

What a ugly creepy looking alien. I don't think I'd like to get stuck in a room with this dude. He looks like someone I'd also not like to bump into in Nocturne Alley. Spiked toothed slimey looking cretin. I guess you gotta be that way to be the right hand man of Jabba the Hut. Thought I'd do a not so cure Twi'lek to go with yesterday's post of Aayla Secura.

Star Wars Sketch 05 - Aayla Secura

Aayla Secura brings us back into the fray with my quick lead undersketching, and then my inks on top. I always liked sketching her out. She's a super serious character and I never seem to draw her that way. It's always smiley or easy going. Maybe I'll have to do a bigger piece to show what a warrior she is.

And if you are wondering where I'm at, trying to catch a break with the internet is becoming something of a spectacle. I'm thinking of switching providers to get a more secure connection. I'll hopefully be back in action full force then.

The Keys of Mahdicia are on it's way!

Hey guys, been slacking lately with my posts.. so I figured I'd toss up a couple of things after the Anita Blake colors.

To the left is how I do my penciling. It's VERY loose. But that's the way they come out when I ink my own stuff. As you can tell by some of the previous pencils I've posted that I don't do this all the time.

This is the pencils of page one from a comic my wife and I are doing. It's part of a giant trilogy. The first series is called The Keys of Mahdicia. (Mah - Dee - She - Ah)

To the right you can see the inks for this page. Notice how a lot of the art or things about it (like a whole panel.) Just decided to change in the inking process. I use ZIG Millennium Pigment pens, and a Pentel Ink Wash brush.

I will be coloring this when the first issue is inked. So expect to see a repost of the progress when I end up coloring this beast!.
